London Irish still run an amateur rugby side which plays at the ground at Sunbury-on-Thames until next year when they move a short distance to a new ground which allegedly has space for 17 rugby pitches. I hope that the professional side of the club will see fit to move back home from their current home at the Madjeski Stadium in Reading, which seems (to me) to be very inappropriate for club called "London Irish" - at least Sunbury is a suburb of London!
Yesterday Cambridge was playing the Amateur club which calls it's 1st XV the Wild Geese; from my selfish point of view I am delighted to tell you that Cambridge clipped their wings and tamed them by a margin of 43 - 10; however, in a curtain raiser, Cambridge's Develoment squad went down by 19 - 10 the the London Irish 2nds
A lovely day at a great club with good rugby and good craik!
Some photos: first a few from the curtain raiser - a Cambridge wing three-quarter with a fine head of hair caught my eye

Bishop's Stortford Rugby v Cambridge RUFC 05.10.13
Having spent the morning in the dark assisting with the selection process of images for the Cambridge Camera Club annual exhibition, I was out in the open air photographing Rugby again yesterday afternoon. The light was as good as it gets for photos of rugby - high cloud and no direct sunshine, so I ended up with an embarrassment of riches for the CRUFC website - I've posted 95 pictures of the game here. Meanwhile here are a few of my favourites from the afternoon:
