Olympic Park with CCC

A group from Cambridge Camera Club went to the Olympic Park on a cold January morning and enjoyed a beautiful day with perfect weather.  I became obsessed with trying to find the best light/sky/angle to photograph cranes which seem to be at once graceful and functional and almost dancing in the sky.  We were also luck to meet a Harris Hawk at work keeping the pigeons away! Leaving the park to walk by the canal for an hour gave us some graffiti and the end of the day brought a glorious sunset.  Even time for a selfie by the velodrome!

Barn owls and a marsh harrier (distant), but no hen harriers

Yesterday I joined the RPS raptor followers in the Boardwalk Hide at Wicken Fen in the hope of seeing the hen harriers coming in to roost; Sadly we saw no hen harriers which would have been a treat, but we caught a couple of barn owls in the fading light and a very distant marsh harrier (Oh, and a sedge head whist I was waiting!)
