A day out at Burghley House


45 years ago I visited Burghley during the annual 3 Day Event and I have been meaning to return for much of the intervening time. 10 days ago we returned with friends. I was disappointed to find that they discouraged photography inside the house, but there are also the gardens though large parties of adolescent schoolchildren letting off steam don't maximise the opportunity for carefully composed shots... The house is magnificent and a chance to photograph some of the open rooms, particularly the magnificent decorations by Verrio commissioned by the 5th Earl between 1686 and 1697

I did manage to sneak one "contraband" shot it the dining room!
