North Norfolk Coast - Huts, Pines, Terns and Seals

On Wednesday three of us walked from Wells to Holkham where we enjoyed lunch at the Victoria. The beach huts provide endless fun for photographers and I even tried an in-camera multiple exposure when I saw a hut called (Sand in my Shoes".  Next we returned to the car park at Wells via the pine woods before driving to Morston  to join a boat going out to the end of the spit at Blakeney to see birds & seals.  I was using my Olympus OMD E-M1 with the standard 12-40 f/2.8 PRO or the 75-300 f/5.6-6.8 telephoto lens

On Sunday morning we walked down the estuary towards Northey Island looking for waders to photograph - not much about, or what there was, too far away!

 

No photographer can resist a bit of industrial decay - or as the yacht broker might have it "restoration opportunities"

Out for some barge-time on Sunday at Maldon

Back to one of my childhood haunts on Sunday.  The RPS Nature group and Cambridge Camera Club combined to charted the barge Kitty from Maldon quay on Sunday afternoon.  After a lot of hard work against wind and tide, we got off the mooring on Maldon quay and set off for Osea Island under motor.  Once we had drawn level with Tony Benn's old hideaway from the sixties when he owned Osea, we turned around and let out some sail - having faced a stiff cold breeze blowing up the estuary, we suddenly experienced the peace and (relative) comfort of a following breeze and no thump-thump-thump from the Diesel engine.  These pictures all relate to Kitty and other Thames barges we saw.  The first two shots of this set were taken with my big Nikon D4 which was sporting my 300 mm f2/8 during the morning when the plan was to walk for nature pictures; sadly I couldn't get far enough away from the barges to include all of the barges' masts with that particular lens

On board Kitty in the afternoon, I changed cameras and was using my Olympus OMD E-M1 with a more general purpose lens - the Zuiko 12-40 PRO lens:
